Research and economic analysis to inform public policy and investment strategy of a national government in the Middle East
Background and purpose of the engagement
Nova Economics was engaged by a think-tank based in the Middle East that was advising a national government ministry in its preparations for a national policy and strategic planning conference. The objective was to conduct economic research and policy analysis across several pre-identified themes to help the client understand key trends shaping global and regional economic development, and to identify potential investment opportunities for the country.
Our approach
We followed a three-step, out-in analysis approach for each of the themes.
Step 1: Outward analysis
- Identified and examined the underlying drivers of the trend or relevant industry development
- Developed case studies, drawing lessons from other countries and/or firms that are considered leaders in the associated industries or fields
Step 2: Inward analysis
- Assessed the client’s comparative strengths and weaknesses in leveraging or responding to the trends
- Documented the key challenges requiring consideration
Step 3: Looking forward
- Identified and highlighted the key insights and potential investment opportunities
- Formulated policy questions and actionable recommendations to guide discussions at the conference and inform subsequent investigations
